INTERNORGA 2017

INTERNORGA 2017 : five successful days.

This trendsetter event and number one meeting point for the hospitality and food service industry was fully booked with 1,300 exhibitors from 25 nations. Market leaders and newcomers welcomed the top decision makers in the industry, showing their products and services for the present and future. With new formats, proven classics, exciting live competitions and high-powered conferences – INTERNORGA generated enthusiasm and engagement from the 96,000 national and international visitors from restaurants, hotels, food service, bakery and confectionery.

“We look back with pride at the highly successful and eventful days at INTERNORGA,” said Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH. “INTERNORGA once again played its part as the leading event and trendsetter, reflecting all the relevant topics for the industry. And that is very well received by our trade visitors. The visitor numbers this year are simply tremendous, despite a shorter period for INTERNORGA.”

Outstanding assessment by visitors
Visitors expressed a very high degree of satisfaction. 91% of visitors rated INTERNORGA as excellent or good, and 93% said they would recommend it to others, according to the results of a survey by an independent market research agency. About 80% of the visitors were decision makers in their organisations. International origin of visitors remains high at about 7%. That is why INTERNORGA is recognised by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) as Germany’s only international HORECA trade fair.

International conferences fully booked
The high-powered conferences at INTERNORGA are a forum for the experts and for international exchanges in the industry. 2,200 visitors attended this year’s 36th International Foodservice Forum, held for the first time at a new venue in the Hamburg Mehr! Theater. The German Catering Congress and the 7th INTERNORGA Forum School Catering gave a fascinating overview of the industry.

Success story – live formats go from strength to strength
The live contests Next Chef Award and Gastro Startup Competition, both launched last year, were very well received by visitors again this year. These new formats showed that INTERNORGA can generate enthusiasm especially in young visitors. The winner of the Next Award 2017 is 26-year-old Maximilian Schultz from Kochwerkstatt Wiesbaden. The winner of the Gastro Startup competition is Salt & Silver.

Grill & BBQ Court successfully launched
Each year INTERNORGA highlights the topical subjects in the industry. The Grill & BBQ Court was a feature hosted jointly by INTERNORGA in partnership with Grill-Kontor, putting the focus on this exciting culinary trend. “Alongside the amazing range of grill appliances and smokers presented in the new exhibition area, we were able to answer a whole host of questions by trade visitors on techniques and trends. The success of this new area was definitely due to the combination of fascinating technical innovations, expert know-how and meat quality,” says Dirk Alberts, CEO Grill-Kontor Hamburg.

Second round to FH Nord
FH Nord, the prime industry meeting point for the butchery trade in North Germany, moved successfully into its second round. For the first time, the FH Nord exhibitors presented their products and services for butchery directly at INTERNORGA. Positive conclusions are drawn by Michael Durst, Master of the Hamburg Guild Association – “We were delighted to greet so many colleagues at this year’s FH Nord. We had three packed days, with very good attendance at the stands of the North German associations. The concept worked out really well. The combination of FH Nord and INTERNORGA met with a wonderful reception from our colleagues in the trade.”

New timing is appreciated
This year the duration of INTERNORGA was reduced by one day so that, for the first time, the trade show ran for just five days. That was the response of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH to the changing conditions for trade fairs. Exhibitors and visitors very much appreciated the change. Christian Strootmann, Chairman of the Management Board of BHS tabletop AG and Chair of the INTERNORGA Exhibitor Council, said “This year’s INTERNORGA really went extremely well. There was so much happening in the exhibition halls, right from the very first day. Reducing the time of this exhibition was just the right decision. As the five days come to an end, we can look at very good talks and meetings.”

The 92nd INTERNORGA will be held at the Hamburg Messe site from 9 to 13 March 2018.
